Send an instruction
Capt. Patch answers three kinds of messages:- An
@Capt. Patchmention in a channel the app is in - A direct message to Capt. Patch
- The
/autterslash command, followed by the same kind of instruction
Capt. Patch ignores messages from other bots.
Instructions you can give
Write a normal request. You do not need a special syntax. These are the actions the app can carry out.See what needs attention
Ask about code and scans
Work an incident
Work a pull request
Name the repository as
owner/repo or the short repository name when more than one repository could match.
When you ask about a pull request review, Capt. Patch replies in three messages:
- The pull request and its review status.
- The most important findings.
- Raise a fix PR, when those findings can be fixed. That queues one draft fix pull request. If the review has not started, the third message is Run review instead.
Buttons
Some replies include buttons. The button is the action. A chat message cannot open a pull request by itself.
Create pull request requires GitHub write access on that repository, or an Autter organization role of owner or admin. Other actions require you to be a member of the Autter organization.
Events Autter can post
In Settings → Notifications, an owner or admin turns the Slack column on or off for each event. Alerts go to the channel you selected. These are the events:
Incident alerts can include Acknowledge, Investigate, Create fix, and Mute. A pull request alert can include Run review.
Reply in the alert’s thread to keep the instruction attached to that incident or pull request.
